The Sometimes are a rock band. Their unconventional, original compositions are at once heavy, bluesy, and melodic and feature a relentlessly driving rhythm section, soaring and atmospheric lead guitar, and lush acoustic textures.

Cicada Nation, the first full-length album from Northern Virginia rockers, The Sometimes, will be independently released in Spring 2018. Cicada Nation contains 11 original compositions including personal songs of self-reflection and discovery, narrative-based storytelling, cathartic rock songs crafted over years of live performances in bars and breweries across the Commonwealth.

Featured on the album are Kevin Fahy (vocals, guitar), Nicolaus Heun (lead guitar, vocals), Burt Glassman (bass, vocals), and Brian LaFleur (drums, percussion). The album was recorded at Converse Rubber Tracks Studios in Brooklyn, NY with support from Matt Shane and BIAS Studios in Springfield, VA with support from Ken Barnum and Michael Monseur.

Lyrics

Footprints

I used to be the one that you loved
Was the one who made you so happy you cried
All of those late nights and long conversations
Lead to nothing now the fountain’s gone dry

People change and so do feelings
Hearts and minds don’t always see eye to eye
I think about this life, the love that I’ve missed
As the years pass me by

So say what you what you will, it’s finally found
From the branch of our mothers, you must hit the ground
Rightly I can say there might come a day
To spit on my footprints, cracked they may be

Your muscles stretch fire, when you stay where you are
All the things that you’ve known are still known
When your friends leave you then, can I still meet you there
Would you rather be alone

Ten years and a kid, mean more than it did
When we were just finding out
The questions you ask, don’t give you a pass
To make like you had no doubt

So say what you what you will, it’s finally found
From the branch of our mothers, you must hit the ground
Rightly I can say there might come a day
To spit on my footprints, cracked they may be

It’s amazing how the world will beat you
Up and down, taking its toll
I might just be a little lonely, but if
You can’t trust yourself, then why another soul
